  4. Although an MP can present a petition to the House 
  5. simply by dropping it, at any time, into the Petition Bag 
  6. behind the Speaker's Chair, he or she is also free to 
  7. present it in the Chamber. Space is reserved for this at 
  8. the end of each sitting day, and the MP is restricted to a 
  9. very short speech. Later Government departments may 
  10. also make written observations on the petition.
